Clients The Weight-Loss Consumer Bill of Rights encompasses the following essential principles:
(A) Health Advisory: Be aware that rapid weight loss can lead to significant health issues. Rapid weight loss is defined as losing more than 1.5 to 2 pounds per week or more than 1% of body weight per week following the initial two weeks of a weight-loss regimen.
(B) Medical Consultation: It is strongly advised to consult with your personal physician prior to commencing any weight-loss program.
(C) Sustainable Weight Loss: Understand that only enduring lifestyle modifications, such as adopting healthy eating habits and increasing physical activity, can facilitate long-term weight loss.
(D) Provider Credentials: Information regarding the qualifications of the provider offering this program is available upon request.
(E) Your Rights Include:
– The right to inquire about potential health risks associated with the program, including its nutritional, psychological, and educational components.
– The right to receive a detailed breakdown of the program’s costs, including any additional products, services, supplements, examinations, and laboratory tests.
– The right to be informed about the expected or estimated duration of the weight-loss program.
– The right to access information about the dietitian or nutritionist who has reviewed and approved the weight-loss program in compliance with section 468.505(1)(j), Florida Statutes.
In accordance with section 501.0573(6), the Weight-Loss Consumer Bill of Rights must be prominently displayed in a format that is easily readable, specifically printed in at least 24-point boldfaced type on a sign. Additionally, palm-sized versions of this document, which must be bold and legible, are to be distributed as per section 501.0573(5). It is the responsibility of each weight-loss provider, including BloomNow, to ensure the production and distribution of these documents, ensuring all clients are fully informed of their rights.
